Johnson Bros Angus & Johnson Farms- 

A family run small grain farm and cattle operation. We sell registered and commercial Angus cattle and beef. We are a 4th generation small grain farm. We raise wheat, canola, soybeans, flax, faba beans, barley, and corn. Some of the soybeans we grow are seedstock, and we raise both silage and field corn. We strive to increase the quality of our crops each year, blending hard work with new technology to improve our yields. We also implement cover crops for grazing, try to raise a variety of feedstuffs for our cattle.

Our farm has been in our family since 1912, raising small grains and cattle. Vernon Johnson and son’s Terry, Todd, and Tim raised Herefords until the mid-90’s when we started exclusively breeding to Black Angus bulls. Since then, Terry’s sons, Jeremy and Nathan, and Tim’s son Derek, have taken over the reins, and raise commercial and registered Angus cattle. We have been selling bulls and replacement heifers for sale by private treaty successfully for years. We also enter and sell a select few bulls in the Midland Bull Test Sale held each April in Columbus, MT. Since 2007 we have brought in carefully selected registered Angus females, and continue to add to our herd through selection of embryos. We breed for structural soundness, mothering ability, and our cows perform on a roughage based diet. We AI our heifers and a large percentage of our herd. We choose our bulls to enhance maternal ability and produce quality calves plus steers that excel in the feedlot.

We continue to strive for better performance of our cattle with end result of better tasting and grading beef. Since 2005, we have collected the carcass data on all of our market steers by retaining ownership to track their performance annually, which leads to an increase in our customer’s bottom line. They have been grading Choice and higher, with a high percentage of Certified Angus Beef premiums.
